Basics of Masking an Image

We all take a lot of pictures whenever we out for some kind of tour or in a vacation. We take them to keep the place in our memories for a long period of time, but unfortunately we cant visit all the places we want to and there can be a lot of reasons behind this but that is not the main topic of our discussion.

Basically I wanted to talk about masking of Background and placing it wherever we want to and according to our needs. Masking is an essential part of Photoshop editing and image manipulation. If you are the master of this art then it is very obvious that you will no longer be a Amateur in this sector. In the Web there are lots of Editing software’s and tools available that can help you to start off initially if you really want to start.

Talking about the masking the very basic reason we mask out a background or delete it in the first place is so that we can smoothly and convincingly composite various images together in a uniform pattern. If you really want then some amazing things can really be done with Photoshop, and masking is at the center of achieving great effects and realism.

Some of the very basic techniques that can be used are like; Background Eraser Tool, Channel Mask, Magnetic Lasso tool, Pen Tool. I guess if you need to start trying these few techniques then this is the correct time. Start your PC and start editing things, at first you will make mistakes but eventually you will be the real winner with nothing to loose but everything to win. We will talk about various other photo clipping and masking techniques in our next discussion.
